Karin BumbacoOn Saturday, February 23, Assistant State Climatologist, Karin Bumbaco, visited the Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center (MSEEC) in Bellevue, WA to talk with students enrolled in the MSECC’s Environmental Science and Technology Practicum. The students were high school aged, and interested in science and technology careers. The goal of the program is for the students to learn about career options in science fields, and Karin spoke about her day-to-day tasks at work, her experiences in high school and college that lead her to her career, and specifics about the type of preparation needed. Karin also discussed some of her research with the students so that they had a better understanding of her science (climatology). Over the course of the program (several weeks), the students will hear from a variety of scientists as well as perform lab and field experiments at MSEEC.
