JISAO sponsors environmental careers discussion as part of UW's Career Discovery Week

UW Career Discover Week bannerJISAO and the College of the Environment held a panel discussion titled Environmental Careers for our Changing Planet as part of the University of Washington's Career Discovery Week.

Hosted by Tom Ackerman, JISAO director and professor of atmospheric sciences, the event gave students a chance to hear from four professionals representing a wide range of career opportunities in the environmental field. The session also allowed students time to ask career-related questions and learn about opportunities in private industry, governmental laboratories, non-governmental organizations and university research institutions.

Speakers included Ignatius Rigor, research scientist and mathematician from the Polar Science Center; Lisa Hiruki-Raring, wildlife biologist with the NOAA Alaska Fisheries Science Center; Roel Hammerschlag, staff scientist with the Stockholm Environment Institute; and Scott Eichelberger, director of resource assessment with 3TIER.

Career Discovery Week is an annual event sponsored by the UW Alumni Association and UW Career Center.
